This year’s featured presentation, “Why Do We Keep Telling Ghost Stories?”, will be presented by special guest speaker Jenn Horn, who will explore our enduring fascination with ghosts, legends, and the stories we continue to tell generation after generation.

Will you hear a ghost story—or become part of one?

Jenn Horn is the Director of the Honors and TLC Programs and a senior instructor of English at the University of Southern Indiana, where she has spent over a decade teaching courses in composition, folklore,  and mythology, including "Introduction to Folklore," "World Mythology," and an Honors seminar titled "Legends, Ghost Stories, & Bigfoot – Oh My!" She holds an MA in Folklore from Indiana University Bloomington, where her graduate work first drew her into the study of the stories that communities share about the unexplained. A longtime member of the American Folklore Society, Horn has presented nationally on folk narrative, including a talk on shaping the first-year college experience through campus ghost walks. She is also a member of the Association for Gravestone Studies, reflecting a long-standing interest in cemeteries, memorials, and the stories etched into stone. Ghost stories aren't just an academic interest but one of the oldest ways we pass down memory and meaning.
