Adult Summer Reading Program

June 1 - July 31, 2026

This summer, Willard Public Library invites adult and young adult readers to take on reading directives revealed through one sealed envelope at a time.

Welcome to the Ink & Quill Society.

Beginning June 1, participants will take on a reading challenge unlike any before. Wax-sealed envelopes contain directives that determine each step forward. Complete them to unlock the next stage and earn Society insignia along the way.

How the Challenge Works

Step 1: Commence Initiation

All participants must have a valid adult Willard Public Library card in good standing.

Register at the Adult Services Desk and receive:

  • Your first directives in a wax-sealed envelope
  • A Willard Public Library bookmark

Step 2: Complete Directives

  • Your task is to check out and read books that satisfy the secret directives in your envelope. 
  • Eligible books must be checked out from the Willard Public Library Adult/Young Adult collection or from the Indiana Digital Library through Libby.

Step 3: Return & Advance

  • Bring your completed directives back to the library to receive verification from  library staff. Once approved, your envelope will be entered into a reward drawing, and you will unlock the next challenge level.
  • You will also be awarded a members-only completion relic to signify your accomplishment.

Challenge Levels & Rewards

Level 1: The Observer

Eligibility: Complete 2 reading directives

Prize Drawing: Willard Winner's Prize Pack (includes a Willard Public Library T-shirt and a journal and pen set)

 

Level 2: The Decoder

Eligibility: Complete 3 reading directives

Prize Drawing: Coffee Connoisseur's Prize Pack (includes a bag of Evansville Coffee Company's Grey Lady Blend, a WPL mug, crossword puzzles and chocolate covered espresso beans)

 

Level 3: The Collector

Eligibility: Complete 4 reading directives

Prize: Hometown Favorites Prize Pack (includes gift cards to local businesses such as Emerald Design, Memo Paper + Goods,  Showplace Cinemas and more)

 

Level 4: Master of the Stacks

Eligibility: Complete 5 reading directives

Prize: The Ultimate Page Turner Prize Pack (includes an exclusive Willard Public Library bookbag and an 11-inch 128gb Apple iPad)

 

All prize drawings will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Participants do not need to be present to win.
