Adult Summer Reading Program

June 1 - July 31, 2026

This summer, Willard Public Library invites adult and young adult readers to take on reading directives revealed one sealed envelope at a time.

Welcome to the Ink & Quill -- a secret summer reading society for adults and young adults

Beginning June 1, curious bibliophiles can embark on a reading challenge unlike any before. Wax-sealed envelopes contain top-secret directives that determine each step forward. Complete each mission to unlock new volumes and uncover rewards all summer long!

Are You Intrigued ? 

Step 1: Commence Initiation

All Society initiates must have a valid Willard Public Library card .

Visit the Adult Services Desk to receive:

  • Your first directives envelope
  • A list of challenge levels and rewards
  • A Willard Public Library bookmark

Step 2: Complete Secret Directives

  • Your task is to check out and read books that satisfy the secret directives in your envelope. 
  • Eligible books must be checked out from the Willard Public Library Adult or Young Adult collections or from the Indiana Digital Library through Libby.

Step 3: Return and Advance

  • Bring your completed directives back to the library for verification from  library staff. Once approved, your name will be entered into a prize drawing, and you will unlock the next challenge level.
  • You will also be awarded a members-only completion relic to signify your reading accomplishment.

Challenge Volumes and Rewards

Volume 1: The Observer

Eligibility: Complete two reading directives.

Prize Drawing: Bibliophile's Bundle, which includes a Willard Public Library T-shirt and a journal and pen set.

 

Volume 2: The Decoder

Eligibility: Complete three  additional reading directives.

Prize Drawing: Coffee Connoisseur's Collection, which includes a bag of Evansville Coffee Company's Grey Lady Blend, a WPL mug, crossword puzzles, and chocolate-covered espresso beans.

 

Volume 3: The Collector

Eligibility: Complete four additional reading directives

Prize: Hometown Favorites Collection, which includes gift cards to local businesses such as Emerald Design, Memo Paper + Goods,  Showplace Cinemas, and more.

 

Volume 4: The Master of the Stacks

Eligibility: Complete five additional reading directives 

Prize: The Ultimate Page Turner's Collection, which includes an exclusive Willard Public Library book bag and an 11-inch, 128 GB Apple iPad.

 

All prize drawings will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Participants do not need to be present to win.
